Donostia/San Sebastián is named Best European Destination in the TripExpert Experts’ Choice 2018 awards

The experts’ assessment is based on calculating the general quality ratio of a destination using comments taken from over 85 international newspapers, magazines and travel guides.
After receiving the prize for the Best European Beach and sixth-best beach in the world, as chosen by TripAdvisor travellers, Donostia/San Sebastián has also been awarded the expert prize for the Best European Destination 2018. The result was published by TripExpert - a platform which makes detailed calculations about the ranking of tourist destinations based on comments from over 85 international newspapers, magazines and travel guides - in their Experts’ Choice Awards 2018.
TripExpert bases its analysis on the number of publications that have been released about a destination and the score or value that it has obtained, using these figures to create a general quality ratio. The results of the Experts’ Choice Awards have been published by prestigious media outlets such as The New York Times, USA Today and Entrepreneur.
The First Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Tourism, Ernesto Gasco, has announced that: “On behalf of the city of San Sebastián, I would like to express the sense of elation and satisfaction that the award for the Best European Destination brings. This prize is the result of the continued promotion of the city as a quality tourist destination by the Town Hall, the tourist industry and civil society.
