San Sebastián is working towards good practices and sustainability in Tourism and Gastronomy

  • Donostia San Sebastián Turismoa is organising the “1st Tourism and Gastronomy Conference. Eat, drink, travel”, in a bid to conduct an in-depth analysis of the current situation of gastronomy in our country from the perspective of tourist activity, reflecting on good practices and experiences which enable us to roll out a future strategy based on quality and sustainability.
  • Three major tourist events will be held simultaneously on Monday 17 October in San Sebastián: The 1st Tourism and Gastronomy Conference, the “Pintxo” Institute Gala and the Tourism Commission at the FEMP (Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces), which have chosen the city for their autumn encounter.

Donostia San Sebastián Turismoa, in its quest to manage the sustainable development of tourism in the city, will be analysing the situation of gastronomy in our country from the tourism perspective. The event will be held on 17 October at Palacio Miramar, with 5 round tables and a discussion of good practices in gastronomy, failed experiments, and remarkable top-level experiences, and above all the future strategy of destinations in relation to sustainable tourism and gastronomy, in all their aspects.

This reflection is necessary in due consideration of the growing relevance of Tourism and Gastronomy in the development of cities, as two transversal mainstays of activity and development, which assist with the improvement of cities, their positioning and renown.
